BackchannelPauseSettings

Backchannels over the Agent's reply. When the caller says something short such as "mm-hmm" while the Agent speaks, pause (the default) pauses the reply at the caller's first word and resumes it once the speech turns out not to be an interruption: as soon as speech recognition closes the utterance without words (resume_on_recognizer_end), resume_after_ms after the caller stops when it is set, and otherwise after false_timeout_ms. hold_audio keeps the reply playing until the final transcript, for at most hold_max_ms, so a backchannel never pauses it, but a real interruption stops the reply a little later. The early resume and resume_after_ms need resume_after_false; with it off, a pause ends the reply. Defaults: pause, the early resume on, no resume_after_ms, a hold of 600 ms (a target).

Fields

hold_max_msinteger
In hold_audio, the longest the reply keeps playing through caller speech without a final transcript before the speech may be treated as an interruption. 200 to 1,500 ms; 600 when omitted (a target).
What caller speech over the reply does to its audio: pause or hold_audio. pause when omitted.
resume_after_msinteger or null
An upper limit on a pause for caller speech: when the caller has stopped speaking and neither a final transcript with words nor the close of the utterance has arrived, the reply resumes this many milliseconds later. 0 to 2,000 and at most false_timeout_ms; null when omitted, in which case only false_timeout_ms applies. A value near 0 risks resuming a reply that a late final transcript then interrupts. Takes effect only while resume_after_false is on.
resume_on_recognizer_endboolean
Whether a reply paused for caller speech resumes as soon as speech recognition closes the utterance with no words and the caller has stopped speaking, instead of waiting for false_timeout_ms. true when omitted. Takes effect only while resume_after_false is on.
